At its January 22, 2026, meeting, the Lake Forest Park City Council adopted Resolution No. 26-2062 related to two Shoreline School District No. 412 ballot measures scheduled for the February 10, 2026, election.

The resolution acknowledges and expresses support for the following ballot measures placed on the ballot by the Shoreline School District Board of Directors:

• Proposition No. 1 – Educational Programs and Operations Levy, which would replace an expiring levy and fund educational programs and operational expenses not fully funded by the State of Washington; and
• Proposition No. 2 – Capital Levy for Technology Improvements and Support, which would replace an expiring levy and fund instructional technology acquisitions, equipment upgrades, and related training and support.

If approved by voters, each proposition would authorize the Shoreline School District to levy property taxes on taxable property within the district for four years.

The City Council’s action followed testimony received at a duly advertised public meeting.

Due to a reported sewage leak localized in the northern part of Lake Forest Park near 37th Ave NE, south of NE 205th St, it is recommended that all individuals avoid contact with possibly polluted water in Lyon Creek as a precaution. At this time, there is no evidence of a direct discharge into the creek.

The City is actively working with King County to investigate the situation. Once the source of pollution has been identified and abated, contact with the water should still be avoided for at least 7 days after the spill has been resolved.

Seattle City Light is committed to ensuring safe and reliable power delivery to the residents of Lake Forest Park. Vegetation has been the largest single cause of electrical outages on their system and they have begun performing additional regularly scheduled link clearance work through their system network. They are planning on working soon within the City of Lake Forest Park to begin this maintenance effort.

To prevent power outages, Seattle City Light is required to maintain a proper clearance between vegetation and /power lines, wherever possible. This clearance distance is consistent with Washington Administrative Code 296.24.960 and arboricultural industry Best Management Practices.

Maintaining these clearances may require significant structural pruning that alters the tree's natural growth form and shape. City Light makes every attempt to respect the trees' form and property owners' aesthetic values while ensuring the required clearance distances are met. To the right are some examples of what could occur from proper line clearance pruning.

Seattle City Light only contracts with qualified line clearance tree trimmers who adhere to ANSI A300 arboricultural pruning standards. For work within the City of Lake Forest Park, they have hired Davey Tree Service. These standards include:

• Using directional pruning techniques

• Emphasizing proper cuts to minimize damage to the trees

• Not “rounding over” or “balancing” trees for symmetry

Processing times are longer than expected on Traffic Electronic Hearing (TEC) and written hearing requests.

The Court is experiencing a high volume of emails and calls in response to an unprecedented amount of photo enforcement filings and hearing requests. 

 If you have filed a request for a Traffic Electronic Hearing (TEC) or written hearing request and have not yet received a response, please be patient.  Processing times are longer than expected, and it may take up to 2 to 3 months from the date you submitted your TEC form before you receive a response from the Court. 

Please be assured, late fees are not assessed on matters while they are under review by the Court. For citations that are found committed or granted a reduction to the fine amount, the due date will be extended as part of the Court's ruling. 

Re: TEC hearings: the Court’s decision will be sent by e-mail to the e-mail address provided by the requesting party (please check your spam or junk mail folder). If you requested a written hearing, the Court’s decision will be sent by US mail.
